Movement

The Seiko/TMI/SII Caliber NH35 is a hand-windable, hacking movement that was issued in 2011. The NH35 is currently one of the most popular automatic movements on the market today, it is widely available in many affordable microbrand/boutique/independent/small band watch manufacturers. It is documented to have an accuracy range of -20~-40 second per day(spd) under normal conditions.

Dial & Design

The royal blue dial has etched wave lines going from left to right, there are orang numbers on the inner ring going from the crystal to the dial. The 12 o'clock is marked with dual BGW9 Super-LumiNova coating, there are single BGW9 Super-LumiNova Coated baton shaped indexes at the 3 and 9 o'clock locations. The date is located at the 6 o'clock location. The coin-edged 120-click blue ceramic bezel, has a triangle marker, batons at the hour/minute location - numbers for the 15, 30, and 45 indexes.

Case & Details

The 316L stainless steel case hosts a mix of polished and brushed finishes making the Phoibos Wave Master an attention grabber. There is a coin-edged screw-down crown located at 3 o'clock, it is easily accessed and operates very smoothly when setting the time and the date. The 316L stainless steel solid caseback is embossed with the Phoibos Octopus logo, and the water resistance, crystal type, company name and movement type on the outer ring.

On The Wrist Experience

The Phoibos Wave Master has a little bit of weight to it, while it is not my heaviest timepiece it is noticeably on your wrist. The 5 link stainless steel bracelet and the clean and simple design elements make this a very versatile watch. The brightness of the royal blue dial and ceramic bezel definitely an attention grabber. I have received a lot of positive comments on this timepiece, including that it looks like a very expensive piece. It can be worn to the office, the gym, the lake and on to a night out without ever losing its attention grabbing effect.

Sales & Customer Service Experience

I purchased this through the Phobos Watch website, and it is your standard web-store purchasing process, with no issues during the process. I received an order confirmation, and shipping emails - I experienced no issues during the shipping process either. I have not had any need to interact with the customer service, so I cannot say anything regarding that experience. This was your basic sales and deliver experience from a web-based purchase.

Final Thoughts & Recommendations

This is a great all around timepiece, and it has some of the higher quality design and functionality of a much more expensive timepiece. The Phoibos Wave Racer is a high quality timepiece for the price point. I will definitely recommend this timepiece to others who are looking for a nice, classic looking diver - or even an all-around timepiece.
