Movement
PowerDrive controls the motor drive in chronographs and enables hand speed to be increased to more than 200 Hz (equivalent to 200 hand jumps per second in both directions). This technology improves hand movement control, making the display extremely dynamic. PowerDrive also offers numerous programming options for the counters. Thanks to this technology, a wide variety of different display combinations are available.
he battery’s end of life indicator (EOL) activates 60 minutes after the battery voltage falls below 1.38 V (TYP), and causes the second hand to jump forward 4 seconds every 4 seconds.
Dial & Design
The 43 mm dial is one of my smaller sized timepieces, but this is no way affects the quality and aesthetics of the Tissot T-Race. The dial face is done in Anthracite Black. The inside ring of the bezel is marked with the Tachymetre bezel function that would be on the bezel in most cases, this is because of the design of the bezel has a brake rotor design done in black. The dials outer ring holds the indexes for the hours with framed luminous, and minutes indices between them. The other items on the dial are the Tissot 1853 logo printed at the 12 o'clock location, and Swiss Made at the 6 o'clock location. There are three sub-dials, at the 2 o'clock location there is the 1/10 second sub-dial, at the 6 o'clock location there is the small second sub-dial - both of these sub-dials have a brushed finish with black text, the third and final sub-dial is the 30 minute counter, this is finished with a brushed ring and a black enamel center - there are indexes for 10, 30 and 30 minutes. The date is located at the 3 o'clock location and is enhanced by a large magnifier attached to the sapphire crystal, which makes it easier to read.
Case & Details
The case of the Tissot T-Race is crafted out of 316L Stainless Steel with black and grey PVD coatings applied. The bezel is also coated in a black PVD, with the look of a brake rotor, the contrasting black and silver make this sport watch a very nice and classic looking timepiece. The caseback is completed in stainless steel with a six spoke wheel look etched into it and also houses the T logo for Tissot.
On The Wrist Experience
The Tissot T-Race is very comfortable to wear, and the sporty look allows for the timepiece to be worn on just about any occasion. This timepiece can be a dress watch as well as a sport watch, it will fit under the cuff of a nice dress shirt and the sporty look is almost tamed and the classic look seems to take over. There are many strap options that will allow you to change the look and aesthetics of this timepiece, this make the Tissot T-Race a very nice utility watch.
Sales & Customer Service Experience
I have only dealt with the customer service via their consumer website, there is a library of information available from them in regards to warranty, service, and care for the timepieces. The warranty is easily registered for, and the communication is as to be expected once you have registered.
Final Thoughts & Recommendations
The Tissot T-Race is one of my first ventures into the Swiss mainstream market, and I must say that in this particular case I have been impressed with the value of this timepiece. This is a great sport timepiece, it is very comfortable on the wrist, it has some good weight to it, and it can be worn pretty much in any situation that you want. It is a very clean and simple look and is very user friendly with its complications. I would recommend the Tissot T-Race, it is available in multiple colors, as a daily beater. This is a great addition to any collection, or for someone looking for a versatile time piece.
